Services

Whether your aim is to understand the general microbiology of a process and troubleshoot, to obtain help for a microbiology presentation, or you have trouble isolating or growing special kinds of microbes, I can use my 30 years of experience to help.

My specialty:

Strict Anaerobic Techniques

Sulfate Reducing Bacteria, Methanogenic Archaea and Extremophilic Bacteria and Archaea

Nitrogen fixation, Gene regulation

Please reach out to me to discuss how I can help

I consult for individuals, schools, companies, and institutions

Examples of areas I can consult in:

1.  Understanding general concepts of microbiology or traits of different types of microbes (where they grow or types of chemicals they grow on, how to enhance or inhibit their growth, environmental impacts of their activities or potential application of their metabolic capabilities

2.  Technical and biological aspects of growing different specialised groups of microbes (Methanogens, sulfate reducing bacteria, metal-reducing bacteria, gas consuming bacteria, gliding bacteria, phototrophic bacteria, extremophlic bacteria, magnetotactic bacteria, etc)

3.  Outreach to lay members or interested groups on microbiology topics

4.  Concepts of microbiological or molecular techniques, their application and interpretation of results

5.  Interpretation of microbiology articles for science writers

Topical interests of microbiology I can help in:

a.  Oral and gut microbiome

b.  Wastewater microbiology

c.  Anaerobic microbiology and techniques

d.  Industrial microbiology

e.  Pathogenic microbiology and antibiotic resistance

f.   Soil and aquatic microbiology

True to the name of this company, I will leverage my experience of having worked with a wide diversity of microbes to be of service. If I can help in these or other aspects of microbiology, please contact me with your inquiries.

Currently, I do not consult in Good Manufacturing Practice compliance, and regulatory compliance for various industries.

Microbiology is not just about eradication or control of harmful Bacteria; Only less than 1% of the total Bacteria on earth cause disease  The rest (more than 99%) are involved in global processes around us to sustain life and can also be used to help us improve our lives in the areas of food production, industrial processes, healthcare, etc (examples below).

Some examples:

1.  Detergents (contains bacterial enzymes which digest the proteins in ‘dirt’ particles)

2.  Antibiotics (chemical compounds made by microbes to protect against, or combat other microbes)

3.  Dyes for clothing or chemical industries (coloured compounds made by microbes)

4.  Beer, Tequila, Wine, Yoghurt, Kefir, Sourdough (Food and beverages created from Microbial fermentation processes)

5.  Single Cell protein as feed stock for cattle or as health supplements (eg. Cyanobacteria)
